The world leader in counter-current swimming technology has now created the essential fitness tool for the garden pool. Welcome to the Fastlane, the machine that puts the swim into your swimming pool.
The Fastlane system is powered by hydraulics - the same system used in aircrafts. Sleek stainless steel rails secure the Fastlane to the pool deck, while the "swim unit" hangs 34" in the water providing a current wider than your body and deeper than your stroke. The current is ideal for one swimmer and, as it broadens and deepens, is appropriate for two swimmers training side by side.
Like the Endless Pool, the Fastlane's speed is infinitely variable, from the gentlest of flows to a powerful 1:05 100-yard pace. Our optional high-performance system increases the top speed to a sub-minute 100-yard pace suitable for interval sprint workouts. The Fastlane comes with a remote controller that allows you to change the water speed instantly.
The Fastlane's current - smooth, quiet and free of turbulence - must be experienced to be believed. Beyond swimming, the current can be used for aqua jogging, water aerobics and other aquatic exercises and games. The Fastlane is installed in about an hour, and is easilyremovable for end of season storage, routine pool maintenance or relocation. Best of all, the Fastlane no way interferes with other pool users. You can swim a mile or more in your own garden while your children play and the wife relaxes on a floating lounge chair.
HOW THE FASTLANE WORKS!
The Fastlane hangs from the side of the pool much as a pool ladder does, and like a pool ladder can be incorperated into virtually any swimming pool. The system has two parts: a remotely located hydraulic Power Unit that powers the swim current and the stainless steel Fastlane Swim Unit that mounts poolside. These components are connected by two 1/2" inside diameter hydraulic hoses designed to keep electricity far away from the water.
The poolside Fastlane Swim Unit includes a waterproof hydraulic motor that turns our custom-designed 16" propeller and an innovative channeling system that straightens and smooths the swim current. The two sweeping stainless steel rails that suspend the Fastlane in the pool carry the hydraulic hoses over the pool coping and into the motor. At the bottom of the Fastlane water enters from all directions, including the back through fine mesh stainless steel intake grills. Unlike a hot tub or pool with a narrow 2" diameter intake, the Fastlane's intake is 687 square inches in area (nearly five square feet) eliminating all worries about suction danger.
The rugged 5 horsepower Power Unit can be located up to 200' from the pool, optimally with your other pool equipment. We offer a waterproof hood should it be placed outside. the Fastlane comes with 5 gallons of biodegradable vegetable oil to supply the Power Unit System.
USING YOUR FASTLANE!
Learning to use a Fastlane only takes seconds. Turn the Fastlane on by pressing the on/off button on your remote control. Position yourself on the wall opposite the Fastlane so that you can swim into the current. This will demonstrate how much room you have to swim in and how the currents power increases as you approach the Fastlane Swim Unit.
When swimming stay at least 12" from the Fastlane's front grill so plan the reach of your stroke accordingly. While it is easy to look up and centre yourselfon the Fastlane, we recommend our optional plastic-backed stainless steel mirror. Placed on the pool floor it will help center you in the current as well as providing invaluable feedback on your stroke.
When changing speed with the Up and Down buttons on your remote control wait a few seconds for the current to adjust. Set the water speed at a comfortable speed for your needs. Remember since you are not turning you will tire 20% to 30% faster than when swimming laps.
To stop swimming simply swim out of the current. Press the on/off button on your remote control to turn off the Power Unit. Restart if you wish by pressing the On/Off button. The Fastlane has a built in safety timer that shuts the current off after 30 minutes.
